In the morning we went to a small beach off the beaten track near home and the girls snorkelled. After lunch we drove out for a walk but the paths were not clear and it was hot so we returned home and sat on our local beach and the girls went out again. In the evening Jess and Kath treated us to dinner out.

Friday
We woke up to a cold and windy day so decided to drive for a walk at La Foradada. It was an hour's hike down a zig zag road to a little cove. The waves were up but Kath decided to leap over to a big rock and managed to get there and back without getting wet. Martin did too but Jess got soaked when she went. They were all surprised when I had a go - I nearly made it -1 boot got a bit wet.
The rock formation is supposed to look like an elephant.
We had a hot drink to warm up at the nearby restaurant who weren't too keen to give us a table as they were expecting people for lunch which we were doubtful about as the only way in was an hour's walk. They had the fires going and plenty of paella pans at the ready.
On the way down we had spotted these donkey and Kath had hugged the baby. On the way up they even had a selfie with it!
We hiked back up and stopped in Valdemossa for a drink and cake.

Thursday
Kath went off for another 2 dives - one was through a tunnel into a cave.
Jess, Martin and I drove out to Banyalbufar along very twisty roads. I was in the back and felt nauseous for so Jess and I took turns in the back. There were hundreds of cyclists out in packs and some in singles which made the drive even harder for Martin. In the old town we wandered down the sea but couldn't find a way to the shoreline so climbed back up the steep streets to have a drink on a terrace overlooking the bay. The hills have been terraced all around this area for growing fruit.
Next stop for lunch and a walk around was Port Andratx and we just about got a parking space. it was quite hot so decided to drive rather than walk to Cala Llamp which had rockpools with fish and crabs. We returned to our apartment and Jess and I swam at our local beach.

Wednesday afternoon
When we had had enough on the beach we drove to Santanyi another old town for a wander and drinks and ice creams;
Wednesday morning
An unusual thing for us - time on the beach. We picked Cala Llombards as it was rated to be good for snorkelling. We were pleased to find that there was plenty of natural shade too. When we arrived the beach was fairly quiet but within the hour there was not much space to be had.
The water was cold but wonderful once you were in. After lunch Kath and Jess decided to jump in;
Snorkelling buddies;

Tuesday afternoon
Jess, Martin and I went to look around Port Adriano but it was mostly stinkpots rather than yachts. After a hot lunch on the beach and a drive to a viewpoint we returned to the apartment and Jess and Martin played table tennis. I walked down to meet Kath after her dives which she had enjoyed and had seen moray eels for the first time.
This was in the port I presume in preparation for the summer season to start in earnest. The girls had seen one in operation in Australia;
No shade for lunch;
Short stop at the viewpoint;

Tuesday morning
Kath went off for her two dives and we decided to watch her go in - luckily not too far away so when she sent us her location we managed to drive there and scramble down to the waters edge to see them enter the water.
Monday
We took the car and a picnic lunch for a day out in the North East of the island near Cap Formentor. The main roads were very good - better than I had expected. We parked at the start of the footpath and walked up and over a hill and down to a cove. I had had visions of us paddling or even bathing here but the wind was very strong and the waves too high. We found a little bit of shelter by a rock in order to eat lunch. The day was cloudy too but we thought that if it had been hot and sunny it would have been like walking in an oven.
The start;
On the way we spotted goats - little did we realise that we would be seeing one up very close at lunchtime.
The cove in sight;
No swimming today
Our friend at lunchtime until Jess got fed up;
Views on the walk back;
We drovc into the nearby town of Porta Pollenta for a beer and a walk along the prom;
Then to the old town of Pollenta - it was good to find some of the old Majorca still exists;
