The flight was good and we caught the metro to the Norrebro area of Copenhagen. Our room was on the 5th floor and there was no lift. This host also offered bikes but they weren't small enough for me especially considering the number of fast commuter bikers in this city. The host came home late that evening and got her maps out and showed me what we 'must do'. I think we did one only of her suggestions.
The day we had to spend in Copenhagen was dreadful weather - rain all day. We togged up and walked around the city starting with the cemetery nearby and Hans Christian Anderson's grave. We were lucky that a segway business offered us shelter at lunchtime and even a cup of tea!
Once we got back and dried off we went out for the most expensive fast food meal ever. It was Culture Night that evening in the city but there were huge queues even if you had paid for a pass. We did see a bit of a horse show.

We were off then to explore the countryside - we caught the metro to the airport to pick up the car and drove out to Mons Klint. We went down the 100s of steps to the beach - the waves were coming over the path we had to step onto but we managed to keep our feet dry. We walked along the beach at the foot of the white cliffs for about 30 minutes then back up 100s of steps to the top. When we left Denmark there was a storm and Laerke sent us a photo showing that the steps had been washed away. Our accommodation that night was at a livery stables in a typical old farm complex. We walked down to the nearby beach just about managing to dodge the rain.
On our drive to Svenborg we stopped in Nyborg which is a very old Danish town. We visited the museum which is in the Mayor's old house and walked to see the castle before eating our lunch at the harbour.
After checking in at our apartment we went out for a walk which turned out to be 8 miles long through some lovely villages along an estuary to a castle and back passing an ancient oak.
On our way to Silkeborg we stopped in Middlefart at the ceramics museum and walked along the front on the sculpture trail - a very upmarket sea front town.
We had 3 nights in Silkeborg and our accommodation, a chalet in the owners grounds was lovely. We walked into Silkeborg and hiked up the highest hill in Denmark, Himmelbjerget (only 147m!).

On our last full day we were up really early to catch the ferry across to Zealand and visited Laeke, Jess's friend. We had delicious bread, jam and pastries. She has an old farmhouse which will be great once it's finished.
We stayed longer than I thought we would so then drove down to Dragor on the coast. It was too windy and cold to walk and luckily our room was ready for us to check in. We had a bit of a worry that the incoming storm would affect our journey home but in the end it was someone with a panic attack when we were on the runway which delayed us but only for 30 minutes. The usual train journey home, all on time and Ryan picked us up in a JDB truck.
