Our hosts warned us that Storm Hannah was due and the rain certainly had arrived by Saturday. We decided to stay low and do the waterfall walk about 10 minutes drive away. Out came the big gun waterproofs. A minibus with 2 teachers and a few junior age school children arrived at the car park as we were getting kitted up - poor kids really did not look keen! It rained the whole time but the waterfalls were full and therefore quite dramatic.
The walk was fairly hard as the paths were rocky, lots of tree roots and puddles and mud. I fell and watched my hands sink right into the mud. Our gear was so wet by the time we returned to the car we just drove home for a shower and had a very late lunch. There was no point going out again which was a shame as we haven't seen all there is around here.
I am writing this on Saturday - the weather is even worse with pouring rain and gale force winds. So it's a day to stay warm and dry inside our comfy apartment and watch the Six Nations. I'm also going to make some soup to take to our next stop on Monday as we just have a room and a microwave. The forecast looks better tomorrow so hopefully we will get out into the Brecon Beacons.
