We are here in the low season; skiing is just coming to an end and hiking hasn't started in earnest yet as the majority of paths are still snowed under. We have done some lovely hikes though. Sometimes there is quite a stink as the farmers spray liquid manure on the meadows during the thaw.
Just caught up on all your journeys so far - it looks amazing! You have chosen some lovely places to visit - I'm definitely with you on crowd avoidance though, you can get such a better feel for a place when it's not full of people!
