Bariloche

Bariloche is like Switzerland - in the style of architecture, loads of chocolate shops and you can have your picture taken with a St Bernard!

We visited the cathedral which had some lovely music playing and saw the rock outside which was dumped by a glacier.

As we walk around the town there are men every few blocks who say 'Cambio' as we walk past. These are unofficial currency exchanges where supposedly you get more pesos than at the bank but we are not going to follow swarthy men anywhere for a better rate.

We had lunch in the square which had lots of names and dates painted on the paving - Mothers of the Disppeared again. Not sure if this is done with the co-operation of the council.

When we got home we planned our next walk and I thought I'd top up our Sube card. However even though these are mandatory the places you can top up are few and far between. I went out and walked ages along the dusty back roads (only major roads are tarmac). I used my new phrase "Lo Siento no hablo espanol, hablo ingles?" quite a lot until I found somewhere open with the facility.  This explains why so many people come onto the bus asking if they can borrow a Sube card and give cash.

We have felt the infamous Patagonian wind over the last 2 days - it's very strong and cold. Today it was raining and sunny at the same time so I was wearing sunglasses and my raincoat.
