The weather cleared at lunchtime and became quite warm. We ate our lunch in a quiet plaza, serenaded in the background by a guitarist and singer.
The Recoleta cemetery was our next stop - over 4000 mausoleums including Eva Peron's. It was like walking down streets but quite macabre.
The cheaper option;
We carried on walking quite a way to the Rose gardens. I was concerned that it was too early in the season but there were loads in bloom and the park was beautifully maintained. We sat for a quiet and peaceful rest...... that is if we could ignore the gardeners with their industrial grade strimmers, the busy road behind us, the railway line to the left and the domestic flights taking off nearby.... ah well it was a lovely place despite all of that.
After a welcome coffee and medialuna (delicious crescent shaped cakes ) we got on the subway back to the hostel to rest our tired feet.
We had our second pasta and sauce meal (quick and easy) and finished off the wine left over from our flight.
Tomorrow we fly south to our first stop in Patagonia; Bariloche in the Lake District. Martin is expecting it to be like our lake district on steroids.
