First evening in Ho Chi Minh City

We chose to eat in an actual restaurant for our first meal here. You could choose your fish, crab, eels etc from these tanks. Also frog or tortoise!

The menu included; 'dog imitated wild pig', 'dove', 'bloody scallop', 'stuffed intestine' 'oily hen' and 'ox penis-tail'. We opted for a beef dish but it could have been one of Basil's relatives.

We thought we would have a quiet stroll along the river but that's just not possible here in HCMC - all day and all evening it's as if there is a mass exodus of everyone who owns a scooter. They ride on pavements and expect you to give way, they drive the wrong way down roads and obviously don't know what a red light means. It's chaotic and, when crossing the road you literally just have to go for it and let the scooters weave around you and pray the cars won't run you down.
