Hanoi

We woke up to a rainy Hanoi on Saturday and it drizzled all day but it was still warm.  We walked the length and breadth of the city seeing the sights and dodging scooters.

Old gate into the city;

The 'Hanoi Hilton' infamous prison

Gate to the Citadel still showing damage caused by 2 French cannon balls

Youngsters having a great time doing balloon races

The remains of a B52 and the noticeboard

A pagoda by the lake - no view because of the weather.

A 'one pillar' pagoda

Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum - he wanted a simple cremation and for his ashes to be scattered on a garden but instead, after his death they built this. His body is still viewed by locals (and tourists but not us) and the preservation of the body is maintained annually by Russia.
