On to Danang

The local bus got us to the airport in good time. A Korean girl band was due to arrive amidst great hysteria.

Our hotel in Danang was really good; pool on the 16th floor, good breakfast, large room with table & chairs and very friendly & helpful staff. All for £13.00 per night. Danang is a beach resort and there were plenty of Vietnamese enjoying the sea which was quite warm. One of the new bridges over the river is in the form of a dragon which lights up every night and, at weekends, fire and water spurt from its mouth - we watched from a window on our floor (14th).

When I first noticed this group I thought they were taking pictures but actually they were practising Falun Dafa a buddhist form of self cultivation. They held each position for at least 10 minutes.

It was good to be out of a busy city.

The Clipper 15/16 race had arrived in Danang in February and there were still billboards advertising the event.
