On to Cambodia

We had an early start on Monday for our flight to Siem Reap - early enough to see monks out with their alms bowls. We knew we couldn't rely on the local bus to get us to the airport on time so walked up to the main road to flag down a taxi. A thai chap came to help and told the driver where we wanted to go and ensured he put the meter on (lots of taxi drivers refuse even though the government have tried to crack down). Traffic was horrendous again but we had left enough time.

We were met at Siem Reap airport by the hotel's tuk tuk driver - what a lovely place this hotel is; free transfers, a pool and a good value restaurant all for £10.50 per room per night.

We had a walk round Siem Reap then I had a refreshing swim and had the pool all to myself. Planning our next day visit to the Angkor Archeological Park we discovered that tourists cannot hire scooters only ebikes or pushbikes. I had heard from the girls that it was a very long and hot ride round the temple complex so we plumped for a tuk tuk.

On the way the driver stopped at the side of the road where a man had a small table and plastic bottles filled with a yellow liquid. I assumed he was going to buy a drink but it was a petrol stop!
