HCMC last day

Tomorrow we fly to Danang which is on the coast so our first job today was to locate the stop for the bus to the airport.

The market was next - plenty of offal etc on sale, live fish and live frogs too. The catfish had made a bid for freedom - the aged stall holder sounded like he was cursing and I think it was aimed at me for taking a photo.

We then walked to the botanical gardens hoping to find a peaceful spot. Unfortunately the entrance fee included the zoo which is not the best example of how to keep exotic and rare animals. My favourite animal is the Orangutan - this poor chap had no trees actually inside his enclosure and had learnt to ask for food to be chucked in.

We did sit awhile by this fountain and the orchids were lovely.

Another walk followed to the Emerald Pagoda. This was a run down temple but plenty of locals were doing their thing and there was a room specifically for women to pray for fertility.

When we returned to the hostel this afternoon we had an unexpected whatsapp chat with the girls. Contact has been very sparse as they are wild camping in the van to keep costs down so it is rare that they get access to wifi. They are now in Queenstown. Both of the girls and Ryan have booked skydiving tomorrow and plan to parasail, bungee jump and canyon swing over the next few days!
