Next stop

Sad again to leave our airbnb as we'd had a lovely stay. We had a 3 hour drive ahead of us but planned to break the journey up. Our first stop was Adare which has some lovely old thatched cottages and an abbey.

I had thought we would take another break in Limerick as I had romantic notions of what the town would be like with a castle and a river running through....but I was disappointed with it. So we drove through just snapping a quick pic of the castle on the way.

We were not at all disappointed with our last stop which was Kilkee. The beach looked great and, after a late lunch in a very busy cafe we walked the cliff top loop. I have to confess that we got a little way along the path when I suddenly realised I hadn't got my handbag. I rushed back to the cafe and I was mightily relieved to find it still hanging on the back of my chair. What next?!

Sadly there have been a few suicides off these cliffs and there are many signs like this posted around;

This little building had a grate in the floor and was flooded with water.....not sure what it is and couldn't find anything out about it.

It was a short drive to our next airbnb in Doonbeg. I was a little mystified when I booked it as the man standing next to the house in the host photo on the airbnb website looked young so how did he afford such a big house?

It turns out that the house is owned by a couple with 4 teenagers. They built the house with 5 bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The oldest 3 teenagers are away at boarding school or uni and each have their bedrooms listed on airbnb to earn money! The bedroom let to us by Keith was a typical teenage boy's room with football posters and a ginormous TV and gaming chair. For the first time I really felt as if we had borrowed a bedroom rather than been a guest so I was glad it was only for 1 night.
