Today was a moving on day to our next stop on Skye in Dunvegan. The weather wasn't brilliant. We stopped and took a quick photo of the Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls.
The Old Man of Storr was hidden by the low rain clouds so we abandoned the idea of a walk up there and continued on to Portree. After a mooch around some craft shops we drove to see a tannery. But on the way we came across loads of trucks and trailers along the verges just outside town and discovered that a cattle auction was taking place so parked up to have a look.
All are weighed on their way in
At the tannery we were greeted by the lovely Marketing chap who gave us a tour of the workshop and beautifully presented showroom. There are only 2 tanneries now in the UK, this one and one in Devon.
And we learnt the origin of the phrase 'on tenterhooks'
Despite the rain we walked down to a coral beach for some beach combing. At one point the rain was so heavy we sheltered by an outcrop on a nearby hill.
We had a glimpse of Dunvegan Castle on our way to our Airbnb.
For 2 nights we are staying with Baba and her black labrador Rodger in a lovely room.
