There was no wind so no concern whether our ferry would run. It was packed as half term has started in Scotland. There was a bit of trouble loading and all drivers on the main deck had to return to their cars to shift them up before we could leave. Our car was on a mezzanine deck. So we were late leaving for the hour and 40 minute crossing but we had all day to travel to our B&B so we were relaxed.
On the drive to Flodigarry we stopped at the Fairy Glen - looks like something out of Lord of the Rings. No fairies to be seen, maybe because it was raining.
First glimpse of Skye in the rain from the ferry

We walked from the main road as I had read that there was limited parking. It was a bit chaotic especially with campervans making their way down too. We are discussing whether to buy one.....neither of us are convinced yet.
We drove past the Quiraing which is where we were hoping to walk the next day - today it was rainy and low cloud but still again a very popular place with a large and full car park. We have certainly noticed the difference coming to Skye from the quieter Outer Hebrides.
Our home for 2 nights is a traditional bed and breakfast hosted by Margaret and Myles. We noticed quite a few cross stitch samples with religious quotes on down the hallway and a picture of the Turin Shroud on the hall table. There was also a stick on a hook in the hall....more about that tomorrow. The house is quite small and we share a bathroom with the hosts. They were very hospitable and allowed us to use the kitchen for our supper - Margaret laid the table for us with serviettes etc. Myles is born and bred on Skye and has only seen otters twice so I think I'll have no chance.
