Wednesday on to Torrin

Our last 2 nights on Skye were in Torrin which is only an hour's drive so we wanted to do the Fairy Pool walk during the day. However the area is the victim of marketing and I'd read that the car park couldn't cope. Martin found a hike in from the north over a pass and down so we decided to take this option to avoid the crowds.

We found a layby at the start of the path and had a wonderful walk. It rained a few times but we had the heavy duty waterproofs on.

It was beautiful but there was no wildlife to see - not even birds. We followed a river which was in full flow and there were loads of streams coming down from the hills. Our path was sometimes a full stream too. The river had plenty of pretty waterfalls along the way. It was hard going sometimes and a long hike.

When we got over the pass we tried to cut across to the pools and could see people on the other side of the valley. However, it was too boggy so we stopped to decide our next move. I googled images of the Pools and we had seen similar all the way on our hike so we turned back up the pass.

Lunch spot and the sun is out

Views on the hike

It rained again just as we met a few people at the end - the first we had encountered on our path. After a quick stop in Broadford to get supplies in we drove down a dead and road into Torrin - it felt really isolated.

Our Airbnb is in a shed! Small room with adult sized bunk beds, shower room, kitchen, sofa and TV - brill.

Fab views back and front

Our host had been called away to work so had just left the key in the door. After taking in our bags we went for a stroll down to the loch shore.

Several houses around the islands have had 'half of' addresses but we saw this one in Torrin
