Up and out early for a long drive from Seahouses to Oban. On the way north last week we saw the Angel of the North and today when we entered Scotland we saw the Kelpies;
The ferry was on time and it was a smooth 40 minute crossing to Craignure on the Isle of Mull.
We arrived to a lovely welcome at the Croft - homemade chocolate cake and scones. Our hostess is Sam, a lovely lady who lives here and runs the croft as well as caring for her daughter who has learning disabilities and is blind.
Very disappointed though to learn that the Jersey cow and the Highland coo which were on the Croft's website photos are deceased, but there are sheep, chickens, a goat and 3 cats. Sam has warned us about the stags roaring and owls hooting at night.
We went out for a walk to stretch our legs after the long journey. There was a mausoleum for Laclan McQuarrie said to be the father of New South Wales.
Plus a farmer herding his sheep with several dogs
Three wild deer
Then a truck and trailer passed us with a dead deer on it - it's stalking season and we heard guns firing on our walk.
