The forecast was showers so we togged up and set out to walk round 2 lochs on the recommendation of Tom who is really knowledgeable about the area. We saw a dipper swimming in the river on the way in.
Fish were jumping in the loch and stags roaring in the hills.
Deer larder for the local estate
Potential postcard picture
When we stopped for lunch it was so quiet and still.
As we got back to the car it started to pour down - lucky timing.
On the drive back to the house I thought I spotted a stag standing in a car park just up from the road. Martin executed a quick 3 point turn on the single track road and we slowly entered the car park. I started to think it was actually it was a model as it was standing so still next to a sign board about deer. But it was real! We later discovered that he is a regular after food from the campervans etc.
There was still time for another walk - this time up onto Shieldaig peninsula in the hope of spotting white tailed eagles, a pair of which nest on the island nearby.
A good walk but no eagles. It rained just in the next valley but we kept dry.
We had a good evening chatting to our hosts. There are 2 whippets in the house who are well behaved but also an old, noisy cat who unfortunately was allowed to be on the table even at dinnertime.
